My WalkFitter walking sessions are guided outdoor fitness walks designed to help you improve walking fitness, strength, stamina and confidence in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Sessions combine purposeful walking with coaching on posture, walking technique, pacing, hills, balance and movement habits to help you get more from your walks and feel stronger over time.
These are not bootcamp-style workouts, nor are they slow rehabilitation walks. The focus is on enjoyable, progressive walking that helps you challenge yourself appropriately while still feeling supported.
Some people join because they want more structure and motivation in their walking. Others want to improve fitness, feel stronger on hills and stairs, increase pace and stamina or feel more confident walking with others again.
Sessions vary in route and intensity, but the overall aim is always the same: helping you walk well, move confidently and continue building strength and resilience through walking.
You do not need to be an experienced walker to join, but a reasonable basic level of mobility and fitness is recommended as these are progressive walking-based fitness sessions rather than gentle strolls.

Fiona's walking sessions are always enjoyable. The group is friendly and welcoming, with all levels of fitness and experience well catered for. Fiona is an excellent coach. She modifies activities to suit the individual, whether that means to facilitate participation for everyone or to challenge, as appropriate. The focus of sessions is varied, as is the route – sessions are never dull! Her instructions are clear and feedback helpful. Fiona keeps everyone on track with her supportive, positive approach. She has a great sense of humour (which she certainly needs with us!) and always ensures that all participants are fully included. What we learn carries over into everyday physical tasks, making classes beneficial in a practical way as well as simply being good fun
