Follow Along Audio Walks
My guided audio walks have been designed to be as accessible as possible. That’s why all you need is a smart phone to download your chosen audio file to and perhaps some ear buds if you want to immerse yourself in the experience. Aside from this, you will need at least one route to walk, preferably a short flat route for beginners whilst intermediate walkers would benefit from a route with gentle to moderate inclines. I recommend comfortable walking shoes and suitable outdoor wear. See my blog post for more information on choosing you walking attire [coming soon]. And of course, water. Please make sure that you hydrate adequately as part of your walk.
Nordic Walking
Nordic walking has been shown in studies to have many useful applications. For example, it is fantastic for improving posture and for relieving downward pressure on the lower body joints. So if you suffer from foot, ankle, knee or hip pain, the Nordic walking technique can offer some relief when walking. Nordic walking can greatly benefit the cardiovascular system (the heart and lungs) by encouraging them to work harder and more efficiently. 3 Nordic walking can also lead to improved muscle efficiency. 4

A selection of poles are available to hire for the duration of the session.
Nordic walking requires a specific type of pole to get the most out of the technique. Please do bring along your own poles and I’d be happy to advise if they are the correct type needed for Nordic walking. If not, no problem. I offer pole hire as part of my sessions.
I have an affiliation with Nordic Walking UK where I earn a small commission on sales. However, you may find suitable poles online, for example Amazon or ebay or some outdoor equipment stockists. Please do check which poles are right for you before purchasing! See my guide here on how to decide which Nordic walking poles are right for you.
There is no doubt that Nordic walking poles are an investment in your health, but only if you use them. That’s why it’s so important to make sure that you get the right pair for you! Nordic walking poles come in various forms from fixed length to fully adjustable, travel or one piece, aluminium or carbon. The type of pole you choose may depend on whether you require them for rehab or fitness. Please take a look at this video and blog post which explains all you need to know [insert].
This is the most common worry that I hear from newcomers to Nordic walking, but don’t worry, my in person sessions are designed to suit most abilities. The locations that I chose and the techniques that I employ offer a variety of options to accommodate multiple people and skill levels at the same time. Remember that everyone was a beginner, many in the same position that you are right now and are more than happy to not only walk with you but share the wisdom of their own Nordic walking experience.
