Pulse Raisers
My Pulse Raisers walks will motivate you to do just that! These walks are about challenging yourself to walk outside of your comfort zone, because that’s how we get fitter! The aim is to increase the rate at which your heart pumps blood to your muscles and the capacity of your lungs to deliver oxygen where it’s needed. This will lead to those all important cardiovascular improvements. I may encourage you to go for a longer walk or pick up your pace for intervals of time; to tackle a steep incline with intensity or change up the terrain to keep your body guessing. Whichever Pulse Raiser you choose you can be sure I’ll have your safety in mind as a priority…always!
My Pulse Raisers series will help you to:
- Walk longer distances
- Walk faster
- Walk with intensity
- Increase your heart rate
- Tackle more challenging inclines
- Tackle more challenging terrains
Please note that 'challenging' is a relative term and is very much dependent on your starting point. In the WalkFitter context challenging means increasing your heart rate for a sustained period of time. For clarity, my Pulse Raisers series is not aimed at hill walkers but is certainly a good place to start if that is a future goal.
Irvine Beach Park Pulse Raiser
A 20 minute circular route around Irvine Beach Park boating pond. This walk includes steep slopes and is ideal for those looking to add a little pulse raiser into their walk to be rewarded with beautiful Firth of Clyde and Isle of Arran views. Lynn Glen Pulse Raiser
This is a 30 minute circular route around Lynn Glen. Expect undulating terrain with inclines/declines and steep steps. This walk is ideal for those looking to add a little pulse raiser into their walk and be rewarded with beautiful views. A woodland walk with limited seating and steep drops. Hard core paths throughout but expect some woodland conditions. Click’ take me to the map’ for more details.
Parkhill Wood Pulse Raiser
This is a fast-paced, 45 minute walk through one of my favorite local woodlands. Expect to have your heart rate up for the majority of this walk, along with some pulse raising inclines to be rewarded with beautiful views of Castle Semple and Barr Lochs. Set in Lochwinnoch, Renfrewshire. Limited seating on this walk.
