About Me
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step
- Lao Tzu
Hi, I’m Fiona Fisher.
I’m a walking coach. Yes you read that right…a walking coach!
I support women who used to love walking but now feel held back by pain, fatigue, low stamina, lack of confidence or just not knowing how to start again. If walking used to feel effortless and enjoyable but now feels frustrating or painful, you’re not alone…I’ve been there too.
From fit to fearful
In 2018 my health took a rapid downward spiral, seemingly out of nowhere. Outwardly I looked fine but my muscles and joints were in constant, sometimes debilitating pain and the fatigue was extreme. For years I became almost completely exercise intolerant.
And this wasn’t just physical – it hit me hard mentally too. Here I was, this ‘super healthy fitness professional’ and I couldn’t exercise!
A blessing in disguise
That period, hard as it was, reshaped how I understand the human body, movement and what sustainable fitness really looks like. I was sent on a long journey to regain my health and the thing that saved my fitness (and my sanity) was walking.
Walking allowed me to maintain some level of fitness. Not where I had been. Not where I wanted to be. But enough.
I was forced to strip back to my foundations and, with other lifestyle changes, I was able to gradually rebuild my fitness again. Because of that experience, I know how discouraging it feels when a short walk seems like too much. I know what it’s like to want to do more but have the constant fear of a flare up. And importantly, I know what it feels like to recover.
What I do
I support women to rediscover the joy of walking, helping them rebuild the strength and confidence that keeps them moving well for years to come.
I work with my clients to focus on:
Safe, effective walking technique tailored to their own body
Building functional strength and stamina from the ground up
Improving posture and balance to regain confident movement
Overcoming barriers like pain, breathlessness or fear of falling
Reframing the mindset from frustration and fear back to ‘I can do this’
Why it works
My approach focuses on regaining efficient movement and technique by training simple functional exercises, i.e. the daily activities that help your body move better in the real world: sitting, rising, bending, reaching, balancing, reacting and, of course, walking.
This isn’t about pushing harder or chasing performance. It’s about building the kind of strength that supports and protects your body and allows you to stay active and independent long-term.
From a combination of my own challenges, my extensive and ongoing learning and with over a decade of coaching people to walk Further, Faster and Fitter, I know there isn’t a one-size-fits-all fix. But there is a way to reclaim your strength, confidence and love of walking. A way to build a walking routine that feels not only restorative and joyful again, but sets you up for health for years to come.
- If your goals are to:
- walk with less pain
- improve your stability
- increase your pace or distance
- rebuild stamina after illness or injury
- enjoy walks with family, friends or on your own
- move with confidence
- finally make walking feel good again
Then you’re in the right place.
If any of this sounds familiar and has possibly sparked a ‘yes that’s me!’ moment then please feel free to contact me, I’d love to hear from you. Let’s talk about how you can reclaim your walking freedom.
